ResMed has long been known as the producer of the market's top CPAP machines and equipment, and they have continued this tradition with the aesthetic and performance driven line of AirSense machines. The AirSense 10 For Her is one of the most advanced automatic CPAP machines in its class, and it is the first CPAP built for women. Featuring EPR, a heated humidifier, several advanced event detection features, the industry's best data tracking and management system, and a pressure algorithm designed specifically for women, the S10 AutoSet provides every feature you'd want in a top of the line CPAP machine.
For Her Machine
The ResMed AirSense 10 For Her is the first machine meant for use by female patients specifically. ResMed incorporated a brand new, FDA approved, For Her algorithm that responds to apneas differently than most machines. Because women tend to experience upper respiratory disturbances -- and apneas -- differently than men, ResMed changed the device's pressurized response from the rest of their line. In the AirSense 10 for Her model, the machine is capable of detecting when a woman is having an apnea within just a single breath, and unlike most devices, will respond by changing pressure immediately. This instant response will help women experience better, more respondent therapy.
Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR)
One of the features that set the S9 series apart from other CPAP lines was expiratory pressure relief, an algorithm that returns in the AirSense 10. EPR works by decreasing the machine's pressure at the onset of every breath you take, and then limiting that pressure throughout exhalation. Pressure will drop by one, two, or three cm of pressure, depending on your settings and personal preferences. These pressure changes are made gradually so as to not awaken you while you breathe throughout the night. EPR is also able to detect when you're having an unnatural breathing cycle. If an apnea should last for longer than ten seconds, EPR will stop until your normal breathing cycle resumes before returning to your preferred pressure setting.
Mask Fitting Feature
The AirSense 10 CPAP Machine is an intelligently designed CPAP machine, and it is capable of letting you know when you have a proper mask fit. The system can detect when your mask is leaking, and it will notify you with an affirmative symbol on your screen when your mask has been positioned properly. Similarly, if your mask is on incorrectly or is leaking significantly, the ResMed AirSense 10 for Her will alert you that you need to adjust your mask.
SmartStart
The AirSense 10 For Her allows you to conveniently start your CPAP therapy with a single breath. Once you've programmed your settings into the device, all you need to do to commence your therapy is to turn the machine on and breathe into your mask. The ResMed AirSense 10 for Her also features SmartStop, which stops your machine when you pull your mask off in the morning.
Advanced Humidification
ResMed has overhauled their humidification system on the AirSense line. The humidifier comes with every machine -- users who dislike the humidifier have the option of not filling the water chamber or removing the humidifier entirely -- which helps to make the device a bit smaller and more portable than the S9 models. The water chamber can hold 380 ml of water and must be removed to be filled. Heated humidification helps to protect against the onset of undesired and tedious side effects of sleep apnea therapy.
New Ramp Feature
ResMed tweaked the structure and function of the ramp feature for the AirSense 10 series. The ramp remains, but this time, ResMed is allowing you to set your ramp without starting pressure until you've fallen asleep. If you know you fall asleep anywhere in a 0-45 minute window, you can tell the machine to not start the ramp until you believe you'll be asleep. Then, the ramp will gradually increase pressure until the machine reaches your desired settings. This should allow you to fall asleep easily and naturally, particularly if you're new to CPAP therapy and are having problems falling asleep with a pressurized mask.
Easy Controls, Bright LCD Screen
Therapeutic accessability continues to be a staple of the ResMed CPAP package. The AirSense 10 For Her comes with ResMed's finest and most intuitive screen to date: it features a large button, easy to understand controls, and a simple interface. It features a colored and brightly lit LCD screen that can be seen easily before bed and during the night.
(Optional) ClimateLineAir Tubing
The AirSense AutoSet is compatible with a new CliamteLine tube: this is a heated tube that connects your mask to the machine, and ensures that you'll breathe warm air all night long. The heated air fights some of the more unwanted symptoms associated with CPAP therapy, and virtually guarantees that you won't experience rainout.
